Yesterday on 19/12/24 Thursday morning BJP MP from Balasore seat of Odisha Pratap Chandra Sarangi was injured in a clash in Parliament . Sarangi has blamed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for the begining of the chain of event that led to him being injured politically as a result of this incident.

The Incident

According to Sarangi, Rahul Gandhi supposedly shoved another MP and the latter sat on him thus inflicting deep injuries on his head. Sarangi approached media with his head injured and bleeding, and walked them through the mayhem. Another sad witness to the scuffle was BJP MP from Farrukhabad Mukesh Rajput who also was injured.

Both injured MPs were taken to RML Hospital for primary treatment. Doctors who treated Sarangi pointed out that he had heavy bleeding and he needed to be stitched because of the deep cut. During the confrontation Rajput briefly fainted and afterward complained about dizziness and hypertension.

Medical Condition of the MPs

According to the medical superintendent of RML Hospital Dr. Ajay Kumar, MPs are stable and some have been discharge. Getting a head injury, Sarangi had to be sutured for several stitches because the injury had been severe enough to cause bleeding and he was shifted to the ICU because of blood loss.

Rajput’s condition at the time of the recording was dizziness alongside high blood pressure that has persisted since the experience. These injuries make one think of the security procedures enforced within the compounds of parliament besides the fact that such occurrences are physically and emotionally draining for lawmakers.

After the event, Anurag Thakur and Bansuri Swaraj joined other BJP leaders to report Rahul Gandhi to the police. These were charges like attempted murder, intimidation, and pushing that was under seven sections of the Indian Penal Code. At the time of filing FIR, attempt to murder was also included in the FIR that is Section 109.

 But later, the police altered the charges and deleted Section 109 and maintained six over additional sections concerning causing harm, intimidation, and fighting. Arguments have erupted as to whether this case involves legal questions or political questions regarding the revision of charges.
